gero-gerogiseigo · living-thing soundLess common

Ribbit (frog)

The croaking of a frog. ケロケロ is the lighter, cuter version often used in children's media; ゲロゲロ is deeper and throatier.

Common forms

When to use

  • ケロケロ feels small and cute; ゲロゲロ feels bigger and harsher.
  • Be careful: ゲロ on its own is slang for vomit.

Cautions

ゲロ alone (not doubled) is a crude word for "puke". Keep the doubled ゲロゲロ for the frog.

Examples

On the rainy night, the frogs were croaking.
